I have here a digitial copy, created by typist Bonnie Seitz, who John hired in mid nineties to transcribe his older writings to computer documents. The Options Field figure is part of a memo letter sent to co-workers on a research contract for U.S. Department of Education, in 1978. The hard copy of the memo is in Warfield Special Collection at Fenwick Library, Box 27, Folder 2.

This figure was published in a government report titled "You Create A Design", as Figure 1 of Chapter 3. The report is Vol 2 of Sourcebook for Regional Environmental Learning System, 1979. The Sourcebook was the final publication done as a close to the Environmental Education project.

I have determined the original date on this printed figure of an Options Profile to be 1978, because it was described by Warfield in an informal draft document in which he had drawn the figure by hand and DATED it and included it his Options Profiles (Partial Draft) document written to his colleagues in 1978.

In Chapter 3 of Volume 2 of the Sourcebook, Warfield spent many pages discussing the Options Field/Options Profile techniques. Many examples of options fields can be found in the reports issued by his Center for Interactive Management at University of Virginia and later at George Mason University, where the Center was operated by Aleco. (Aleco was also at Virginia, as John's assistant, but John gave him the full job of Center Manager after the Center was moved to George Mason University)

Persons wishing to see examples of the Options Fields used in varying situations can look at the Center's reports, now in George Mason University Library. They are cataloged under the title Center for Interactive Management Reports also by individual report titles.
